'You Gonna Get Shot': What Border Patrol Agents Are Encountering As They Arrest Illegal Aliens

KENNER, La. — Border Patrol agents had just finished making an arrest of an illegal alien in the parking lot of a gas station. Commander-at-large Gregory Bovino was shocked to learn the man had been in the United States for over 20 years, but did not know any English.

By this point in the afternoon, members of the media and local activists had been following Bovino’s motorcade and quickly showed up to the scene. I was embedded with the agency to report on Operation Catahoula Crunch, named after the Catahoula Leopard Dog that is popular with outdoorsmen in the state.

The arrest itself went smoothly and I was given a front row seat to the agents boxing in the target’s vehicle.

As agents were leaving, one black woman at a gas pump said to the agents, “You gonna get shot one of these days, taking people.”

It was a reminder that even though the Border Patrol agents were not in Chicago or Los Angeles, there are people everywhere who are willing to do them harm. It is a threat environment that has reached unprecedented levels due to the demonization from the Left in response to the Trump administration trying to clean up the Biden-Harris border crisis.

The Kenner Police Department has been helping with security and crowd control, something that could not always be counted on in sanctuary cities.
