Gen Z Mexican Protestors to Trump: Keep Your Troops Out
"Yankees Out of Latin America"
MEXICO CITY, Mexico — To say the atmosphere in Mexico’s capital is tense is a little bit of an understatement. Ever since the cartel-linked assassination of Mayor Carlos Manzo, an outspoken critic of the cartels and President Claudia Sheinbaum, the threat of massive protests have gripped the country’s seat of power.
Riots have already broken out in at least two cities in the state of Michoacán, where Manzo was killed. The Mexican federal government has said the promise of protests this Saturday are overhyped, but it has also prepared for large crowds by walling off the National Palace and several of the city’s landmarks. High-end stores and malls have boarded up their windows or put up their own steel walls to deter vandals.
Last weekend, a taste of what is to come took place with a crowd of mostly far-leftist Mexican protesters. While they agree cartel violence and narco-politics has gone on for too long, this group said they would not support President Donald Trump sending U.S. troops to help fight the nation’s many cartels.
“Yankees out of Latin America!” was a common chant from protesters holding hammer and sickle flags.

This was really interesting to watch. The young man in the brown hat was well-spoken and seemed to have a clear understanding of the issues. The young lady just spouted typical anti-capitalist nonsense. I suspect that Trump has no intention of sending the military in to curtail the cartels, that's just him talking off the top of his head. Without the support of the Mexican government and people, such an endeavor would not be successful. At some point, the government of Mexico and people have to summon up the courage to crush the narco cartels. Otherwise they will just continue to poison Mexico and its neighbor to the north.
~ if they can fix it themselves, the U.S. will happily stay on our side of the border. Maybe those boat strikes are changing the equation. ~
