I had the opportunity to have a discussion and debate with David Bier, who is the Director of Immigration Studies at the CATO Institute, about President Donald Trump’s immigration and deportation policies.
For those who are unfamiliar with Bier, he has been a constant critic of how Trump has used the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. While he does not want to abolish ICE or not have any borders, like Democratic Socialists, he wants to have more pathways for immigrants to enter the U.S. legally and does not believe in mass deportations.
Bier has testified many times to Congress as a witness for the Democrats during Trump’s second term, leading to some robust back and forth between him and Republicans.
